7 months

The first eight pictures are from the past few weeks and then starting with the vertical collage, those were taken yesterday when Ty actually turned 7 months. These are the things Ty's been up to in the past month: tearing up magazines, playing with empty boxes, finding the remote control and changing channels, continuing to pull up on anything he can and walk along, finding the vacuum cleaner, finding cords of any kind, cruising from one room to another before I can swoop him up, and jumping like crazy in the bouncer from Jerett's grandparents (he even falls asleep in it :)). He also has had his first bath in the sink, which he enjoyed. I took him outside for the 7 month pics but found that more challenging because he wouldn't take his eyes off the grass, and of course wanted to see what it tasted like! He's getting more vocal, saying "dada," and forms of "mama." We are loving these sweet moments that we hear will be gone in a flash.
p.s.-- the cowboy hat was a purchase Jerett insisted on last weekend... it makes for a good prop. Yesterday was also Ty's first time to wear jeans... just for the pictures :)

6 months is Super!

Monday was Ty's 6 month marker. Yesterday at the dr. he got the 6 mo shots :( and we learned that he's 27 inches and 17 pounds, so he's slowed in the length department, now just in the 75th percentile for length and staying at the 50th percentile for weight. The PA was surprised to hear that he is crawling and pulling up to stand at the couch and in his crib. She wants us to get going on the babyfood, but all thing in good time :) We've done some rice cereal and I have bought some veggies for him to try, we just haven't done so yet. Those will be fun pictures.

Lots of Updates

It was easier to update the blog when Ty stayed relatively still... but that phase of life is OVER! Ty is officially on the move and keeping momma busy :) With the crawling and especially climbing and pulling up on furniture, comes more falls and bumps on the head :( I don't like that part, but he's a crazy-explorer who cannot be stopped :) Ty can make anything look like a jungle gym. In the past month we've been to Dallas to see one of my first campers, Whitney, and her family, had our friends the Gomezes come see us, and then made another trip to Marble Falls to see Jason, Jenny, and Journey. There are a few cousin pictures below. Next week is the 6 month appointment, so I'll update again after that.

Five months is Fabulous

Five months is sooo much fun! These are some of the things Ty's been doing lately:
~breathing loudly through your nose & making a snooty face (squinted eyes and smile)
~started the crawl position... not quite crawling yet, but getting up on your arms and knees, rocking back and forth... ends up doing a head dive to the floor or go over to left side usually, but still covers a great deal of ground w/o actually crawling yet
~LOVES his fingers and toes still
~grabbing anything within his reach... he can destroy paper quickly and take glasses off your face and into his mouth in 2 seconds
~very strong legs
~lights up and smiles every time we talk to him
~when someone holds him he straightens his legs, puts his feet into them,
and attempts to climb up them
~when Jerett gets home Ty gets distracted from whatever he's doing & looks for him
~not as interested in swinging or passive activities... he's rather be on the floor, exploring everything around him

Though we don't go to the Dr. at 5 months, I weighed myself and then held him and weighed to get a rough estimate of his weight, and that was 16 pounds! Getting to be a heavy little man.
