Five months is Fabulous

Five months is sooo much fun! These are some of the things Ty's been doing lately:
~breathing loudly through your nose & making a snooty face (squinted eyes and smile)
~started the crawl position... not quite crawling yet, but getting up on your arms and knees, rocking back and forth... ends up doing a head dive to the floor or go over to left side usually, but still covers a great deal of ground w/o actually crawling yet
~LOVES his fingers and toes still
~grabbing anything within his reach... he can destroy paper quickly and take glasses off your face and into his mouth in 2 seconds
~very strong legs
~lights up and smiles every time we talk to him
~when someone holds him he straightens his legs, puts his feet into them,
and attempts to climb up them
~when Jerett gets home Ty gets distracted from whatever he's doing & looks for him
~not as interested in swinging or passive activities... he's rather be on the floor, exploring everything around him

Though we don't go to the Dr. at 5 months, I weighed myself and then held him and weighed to get a rough estimate of his weight, and that was 16 pounds! Getting to be a heavy little man.

4 month appt a while back

I forgot to update on the 4 month appointment. It was June 11th and these were the highlights: Ty was 12lb, 13oz and 26.5 inches long. 90th percentile for length, between 25-50th for weight.

Camp and a new Cousin

Last week we took the youth to camp, and Ty was a trooper. He and I walked under a big umbrella during the sunny times of the day, and he is big into grabbing/holding/pinching right now, so he helped my hold the umbrella which was really cute. This boy has a TIGHT grip! :) The weekend before camp we were in Marble Falls to visit Jerett's brother Jason, his wife Jenny, and their new baby Journey. We took some cousin pics for size comparison. Finally, the last pictures are just in our living room, happy to be home from all the traveling :)

Toes

Ty is 17 weeks today and is able to entertain himself with his toes :) It's fun to see the development. He is getting around well via rolling, so I can't turn my head for long without him really moving around! Thursday is the 4 month appointment, so I'll update again soon.

Sunflower Field

This weekend was an exciting one for the Blackmon family! The best news first: Jason and Jenny had Journey Sunday night! Though a little early, Journey Rose was ready to make her big entrance!!! She surprised everyone by coming last night, 5 weeks before her due date. She was a healthy 6 lb, 14 oz and 19 inches. I'll post pictures after we see her in two weeks. In other news, Hannah came to visit us, so we took her out to do some pictures in Ennis. There's an awesome sunflower field. At noon the light was harsh, but we were going to the Rangers game later that day and didn't have time to be choosy with the photo shoot. We took our youth group (18 kids) to the Rangers game and had a great time. Ty did really well with his first pro game, though I didn't tote the camera with everything else we had to carry. Talk about a work out! Rangers won 14-1; we got to see lots of homeruns and fireworks!

15 weeks

Saturday we were in Marble Falls to photograph a graduation. While there we hung out with Katherine, Matt and their baby Tessa. Matt & Jerett had the babies while Kat and I were involved with the ceremony events. In other news... Ty has discovered his feet :) He enjoys holding them and rolling around. The quilt in the pictures below was made by my aunt Jeanette and it's really neat... lots of insects for Ty to identify later!

14 weeks

Ty is 14 weeks today. He's been on a kick with his hands lately. Also has entertained us by sticking his tongue out a lot :) These pictures were taken at my parents' house last weekend. Their furniture is fun for pictures :)
